A £9 billion project to transform the 42 acre site of Battersea Power Station in central London, from an industrial brownfield site to a thriving residential, entertainment and shopping centre, took over 10 years to fully complete.
The building, which opened as a power station in the 1930’s, had remained empty for almost 30 years, but the complete refurbishment has delivered over 100 shops, 46,000 square metres of office space and 254 apartments.
The 1950’s Turbine Hall B has been sympathetically restored and retains many original architectural features to illustrate the building’s history and now houses more than 100 retail units with an exciting mix of British and international brands taking centre stage.

Among them is Watches of Switzerland; a globally recognised, leading retailer of the most prestigious luxury watch brands in the world, including Rolex, Cartier, Hublot, Tissot and Longines.
As the building has entertainment spaces and restaurants available after normal shopping hours, Watches of Switzerland were keen to secure their valuable store and its luxury goods, while still allowing the desirable watches to remain visible after closing.
Stackdoor’s inventive stack-and -pin design removes the need for a head box as the stacking technology requires minimal space at the top or bottom of the curtain, giving a small installation footprint at the top of the grille when open, and over 80% visibility when closed.
