Portaal is a housing corporation in the Netherlands who specifically work to regenerate and create property for the social and affordable housing sector. They manage homes for about 50,000 households in the regions of Amersfoort, Arnhem, Leiden, Nijmegen and Utrecht.
Unfortunately, one of the developments in Utrecht had been the target of some vandalism and the windows next to the revolving door at the entrance were frequently smashed. A security solution was needed, but due to the limited installation space and the presence of the revolving door, most standard protection grilles were not feasible.
Portaal approached Solven bv to see if they could develop a customized solution.
After assessing the site, Solven bv offered an innovative answer to the problem using a combination of Stackdoor products. By using two standard, straight Stackdoors and a curved Stackdoor in the middle, these three units were combined into one customised security grille.
This formed a protection barrier over 8 metres wide that could be easily operated using a single button. The entire grille disappears discreetly into the enclosure above the entrance when opened.
With this innovative approach, two Stackdoor designs were amalgamated, creating robust security measures that perfectly complement the existing architecture and required minimal space.
The result is a unique, user-friendly solution that both preserves the entrance’s appearance and provides optimal protection.
